June 2. Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Padmakumari Aryal has said that Nepal will become self-reliant in milk production within the next two years. Speaking at a virtual program organized by the National Dairy Development Board on Tuesday on the occasion of World Milk Day, Minister Aryal said that the current shortage of 11 liters of milk per capita would be met within two years.
Minister Aryal also said that the budget has come to encourage the dairy and dairy sector. Stating that the Kovid 19 epidemic has created problems in the dairy sector, she said that the issue was discussed at the cabinet meeting and the government has moved towards facilitating the market. She said that DDC has been collecting 90,000 liters of milk daily even though it has to collect 100,000 liters of milk daily. She also instructed to work to increase consumption after the market opens.
